- Study the printed forms properly.
- There are two type of observation a) location b) direction,
- Location means where the area is located in relation to the center of the premises, so one has to stand in approximate center of the premises with a magnetic compass to note the locations.
- Direction means in which direction one is, i.e. one might be sitting in west corner (location) but facing east (direction).
- The printed forms have all the instructions printed below each and every
items to be surveyed eg. location of building to be noted from the road side/ direction of sleeping to be noted from the center of the room / shape of the premises observation only etc.
- Before one does the survey one has to learn how to use Directional compass.
- Compasses are easily available in stationery stores,
- They could be of different sizes and designs but show same directions,
- If possible one should buy compass which is least complicated,
- One has to hold compass away from any iron / steel objects and on a flat steady hand, it has to be parallel to the ground.
- Best compass for amateur user is the one without needle, with round magnetic disk which has all direction marked on it and moves as per the direction, this would make it easy to know all directions.
- Magnetic needle compass is also easy to use once one understands it.
Needle will always point north.
After the needle, is allowed to settle down base of the compass is to be
turned where the ‘N’ should come below the red point of the needle,
automatically east will come on right, south below and west on left.
After one has understood these four directions it is easy to know the
Sub directions- North East, South East, South West, and North West
which are between the main direction North, East, South and West.
- After learning how to use the compass it is very easy to fill up the printed
Forms, one has to follow the instruction printed below the items.
- If there are multiple direction / Location e.g. Two different beds in children’s
room with head in east for one and south for other one can mark both
directions in the forms.
- Door direction is to be noted from inside of the Rooms. E.g. main door is opening towards north and one is proceeding out towards north then the direction to be marked in the form will be north
( important- Door direction is always from inside and it is the direction in which
one goes out )
- Room / Department locations are to be marked in relation to the centre of the
Premises, E.g. northwest, west southeast etc.
- Plantation / road levels / road locations to be noted in relation to the center of
the property.
- Designation of users is to be decided by the user E.g. Master is normally
a person who is managing the house it could be retired father or working son.
It is advisable to be perfect in giving details as if one fills wrong details in the
Software there are chances of negative results.
- Machineries could be in multiples and may wary in sizes and weight, it is
advisable to categorize the sizes as per the volume of the machines instead
of the weight.
- There would be situation where all the items mentioned in the forms would
not be on site, one need not worry about the same as the software is
designed to evaluate without few missing items and still give perfect report.
